Reviews for Asam Pedas Pak Dollah
Review highlights
Based on 163 reviewsAsam Pedas Pak Dollah in Melaka is widely recognized for its authentic kampung-style ambiance and diverse menu, particularly its signature Johor-style Asam Pedas dishes such as ikan pari. The restaurant garners praise for consistently delivering flavorful and well-prepared sour and spicy dishes, with loyal patrons appreciating the variety beyond just asam pedas, including Thai-influenced options and unique items like Kuey Teow Kungfu. While portions generally satisfy moderate appetites, some reviewers note that the spice level and broth richness can be milder or less memorable than expected. Service tends to slow down during peak hours, and seating can be limited, yet the welcoming residential setting and reasonable parking add to the overall positive dining experience.
Kampung style kedai makan, nice place (inside taman there is a kampung ) easy to parking & lot of menu (quite surprising actually) Service kind off slow during peak hour Recomend masak asam
Food is good, but if you come late you would probably have to wait awhile for the food to be served. It's a small restaurant, but patrons are always full. Asam Pedas is cooked the Johor style and not Malacca. Signature dishes are Asam Pedas Ikan Pari, Kangkung Belacan and Sambal Telur.
They offer a variety of dishes ranging from Thai cuisine to Asam Pedas, with several fish options for the Asam Pedas. I tried the ikan pari (stingray) Asam Pedas. The portion was decent—enough for two adults if you're not big eaters. The broth had a mild asam flavor and wasn’t spicy at all. It felt like a safe, average dish—nothing particularly memorable. Personally, I would’ve preferred a thicker, more flavorful soup. The stall is located a bit deep inside a village, but it’s still quite easy to find. What made the visit amusing was that we had to call the waiters multiple times just to place our order—and funnier still, they sometimes forgot it altogether. That said, it’s a calm, laid-back spot to hang out with friends and enjoy some Asam Pedas. I’d rate it 3 out of 5.
"The village shop, but located in the residential area. The best sour and spicy dishes are available, Asam pedas The delicious fried fish sambal is a must-try. The shop opens from 5:30 PM to 10:30 PM, closed on Fridays."
My personal best Asam Pedas in Malacca Been here for so many times, and never disappoint. This time i’m trying something different fm usual, which is Kuey Teow Kungfu. Anddd surprisingly, also delicious . Their cekodok also good.
